AmishReader.com

Ok, this is a post for two of my favourite people ~ my big sister, Jen and my dear friend, Tracy ~ hi gals!

Have I discovered the website for you both......and to anyone else who loves the tender stories of the fascinating Amish community.

Harvest House Publishers has just launched
AmishReader.com, a website which profiles the wonderful books and authors they have writing in this genre.

There are Q&As regarding all things Amish and even some great looking recipes.
You will get to know long time writers, BJ Hoff, Mindy Starns Clark and Gayle Roper and discover the newer voices of Jerry S. Eicher (yes, he is a guy!), Mary Ellis and Hillary Manton Lodge.

So if you are like Jen and Tracy do check out AmishReader.com

Here's a peek into
A Widow's Hope by Mary Ellis, just released this month in the US.

A bright new voice shares a tender love story set in the rolling green fields of Ohio Amish country.

After the death of her husband, Hannah Brown is determined to make a new life with her sister’s family. But when she sells her farm in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and moves with her sheep to Ohio, the wool unexpectedly starts to fly. Her deacon brother–in–law finds just about everything about Hannah vexing. When his widower brother shows interest in the young and beautiful widow, the deacon turns to prayer for guidance.

Hannah thought she could never love again, until she meets the strong, gentle farmer. Unfortunately, Seth Miller’s only interest is in Hannah’s sheep. He is content in his bachelor state and slow to recognize his daughter’s need for a new mother. Yet God offers Seth the perfect solution to their problems if he could only open his heart again...and love.

Are there any Amish communities in Australia? I had no idea that their lifestyle would be known much beyond North America.

That got me to thinking. Are there Australian authors whose writing focuses on the colonization of Australian and/or the Aborigines or just Australian fiction in general? I have read some books that take place there, but I don't think any of them were written by Australians.

This from someone who lives in the middle of the US and enjoys looking at your blog.

Hi Barb,

No, there aren't any Amish communities in Australia.

There are certainly Aussie authors writing in the secular market on those topics but not in CF. Aussie author Lisa McKay has written a fabulous book, My Hands Came Away Red but it is set in Indonesia!

I must say I steer clear of books on Australian history written by non Aussies - it just doesn't seem right!!!
